So the other day I thought to myself it would be really funny to start referring to myself as a freekeh-zoid. I always make little jokes about how I'm admittedly crazy and I like became obsessed with this play on words. Freekeh is a delicious whole grain. And freakazoid is something that I truly am.
Anyway, I don't know why I'm telling you that.
The last two weeks have been blissful. I am having SO much fun lifting and focusing on fat loss rather than running. The schedule is wayyy easier to accomodate: four days of lifting of which only two require cardio. This leaves way more time for sitting on my fire escape reading and researching everything-Paris (where I am vacationing this fall!), as well as experimenting in the kitchen.
Last Sunday's experiment involved a very ripe avocado, a hankering for some chocolate on a hot summer day, and a very dear childhood memory of my poppy (read: my grandfather) and I eating fudgesicles together in my grandparent's basement.
I'm also obsessed with collagen because I'm thirty and collagen fights wrinkles and ain't nobody got time for that. I plan on taking trillions of wrinkle-free photos while I am in Paris this September.
So anyway, these healthy, anti-aging fudgesciles were born!!! And guys. They are REALLY REALLY RIDCULOUSLY GOOD. My roommate can vouch for this. They're yummy enough even for little ones (I have some fans!). And they're totallyyy healthy and will only help you achieve your health goals.
That's pretty darn dandy if ya ask me!
Anti-Aging Fudgesicles
Makes 6 pops
1 medium avocado, peeled and de-pitted
1 banana, peeled
1/4 cup cocoa powder
1 cup unsweetened almond milk
2 scoops collagen
1 dash salt
optional: 4 droppers liquid chocolate or vanilla stevia
optional: add-ins such as chocolate chips, shredded coconut or cacao nibs
1. Combine in a food processor. Blend on high until fully pureed.
2. Depending on the size of your avocado, you may need to add additional almond milk. The consistency should be like liquid, so that its easy to pour into the pop-molds.
3. Pour into popsicle molds. Freeze overnight.
4. Voila!!
