When I signed up for your Real Macros challenge in February of 2016, I had no idea what to expect. After a year of relentless stress from work and family, my semi-healthy eating habits had spiraled out of control. My reward for surviving each day was either chocolate covered graham crackers, sushi, or both. I could never have expected the amount of information, support, forgiveness, and encouragement I was about to receive! I cannot express to you how much your positive attitude and valuable tools changed my relationship with food. You showed me that food IS a reward! It's a reward that has lasting effects not just on your body, but your mood, your energy level, even the way you sleep! After about a week of eating real food, counting my macros, balancing my carbs, protein, and fat, the light went off in my head. As a teacher myself, I know the only real way to learn anything is to teach someone else to the point where they are self-sufficient, self-motivated, and prepared to overcome obstacles. You accomplished just that in this program. I now MAKE time to grocery shop several times a week, cook my own meals using lots of recipes and ideas from your program, and use food to fuel my life, no matter what stresses come my way. In the six months since starting your online program, I have lost 12 pounds and it has 100% changed the way I look food and myself. My relationship will food has come a long way since I embarked on my journey with Serena! I used to always worry about snacking and grazing on unhealthy eats during the day, especially at the office. Serena encouraged me to include protein rich and nutritious snacks into my day, and it has worked miracles. Planning out both my snacks and meals and adding structure to my diet, has helped me improve my mindless eating and I actually feel full after every meal!

 

Serena has helped me understand that food is not the enemy; depriving myself of food because I feel guilty will do absolutely no good. Rather, I have learned to eat something healthy and nutritious, but that still satisfies my cravings. I now know that eating the right types of food will only work to my benefit. Having a higher caloric intake does NOT mean I will gain weight! With a diet made up of real food, I feel strong during my workouts. I know that I am fueling my body with enough nutrients and calories to build lean muscle, which only motivates me to continue on this journey!
