Is it okay for runners to add salt to their food?

Do you feel like salt is scary to eat? If you are running in this heat, no doubt about it you are sweating buckets, right?

Sodium which is found in salt is actually got to help replete your electrolyte losses.

So you can hydrate better and feel less tired after:

-a hot run

-humid run

-run where you have sweat a lot

-workout where you sweat a lot

Make sure you add salt to your food, as an athlete you do not need to worry about your high blood pressure risk (exercise actually helps with that). Also if you are eating a diet rich in potassium (bananas, potatoes, etc.) to help carb up after a run or workout, that potassium is helping to balance out the salt!
